Today is the last day for me, and my little family in the united states. We are going on a new adventure again.
Living in the states was the best experience I’ve ever had. What I’ve learned here, and how I developed as a person, equal or greater than all I’ve been taught in my life before I came!
Highlights of the best things I’ve done:
-
Respecting others:
Regardless of their race, religion, and all other common reasons that people discriminate against each other. That was mainly due to my volunteering experience in a crisis center and learning how to deal with active suicide intervention. I strongly believe that our emotional status, and mental health have a great impact on our lives, and others as well.
And whoever you are, you deserve to be respected, being heard, and not judged.
Therefore, I was very excited to volunteer there. I had an intensive training, then I started answering phone calls from clients who need help. This also taught me how many people are fighting battles that we don’t know of, and how these battles can be fatal, and lead these endurers to commit suicide.
-
Women empowerment
I did volunteer at Iowa women’s foundation. I admired the efforts that these women have done. I wanted to be part of that. These leaders are still working tirelessly to improve lives of women who have limited access to education, and other means to be successful, and living a decent life in all means. They deserve to live with a good finance situation, with no abuse against them, and to be good educated.
-
Technical stuff and meetups
While I didn’t attend as many as I wanted, these meeting were the greatest motive for me to improve my blog, and work on my own, when I was literally thinking to shut it down. I have learned a lot of things. And special thanks to Iowa tech chicks its mainly to empower women in tech, since they are not equally treated yet. They helped me, and evaluated my website, and gave me priceless advice.
-
Meeting international women and students
Since my husband was a student, I’ve met lots of international students, and their spouses. I find it very exciting to know about other cultures, and languages. It never occurred to me that I’m going to have friends from all over the world! What I have learned that even though we speak different languages, have our own beliefs, cultures and traditions, we all share the same values and needs. We need to be loved and respected.
-
Work ethics, passion, and creativity
How people here start their own business from nothing, whether its a new idea or not, and how much time they dedicate to it is truly amazing. Now when this is a thing that can affect social life, still I love how many people are enthusiasts about their own small business.
-
English writing workshop
While it was mostly for fiction writing, which I truly love, (check out my book shelf) but they helped me a lot. They patiently edited some of my blog posts , like this one gave me very valuable advice about improving my writing style, and finding my own voice.
Do I want to come back to the states? Yes and No!
Yes for all what I’ve loved here and mentioned above and no because:
- It’s not an easy process to start all over again when you have kids.
-
It’s not easy to get in here, whether for a job or study.
-
It’s far away from home, I kept thinking how its expensive and unrealistic to go back home whenever I want.
Sometimes social differences makes you feel alone made me want to live with people like me,
Now since I’m moving, and I need to build my pantry from zero again, it will be impossible to create recipes. And because I care of you my readers, I won’t leave my blog blank, I’m gonna do Guest bloggers series for July. I carefully chose the bloggers, they all are very talented with great collection of ethnic recipes and international cuisines as well.
